Mike Rann (Micheal David Rann) was the 44th premier of the South Australian Government with an impressive term close to spanning a decade from 2002 to 2011. Rann was succeeded by Lynn Arnold as leader to the South Australian Branch of the Labor Party. During his leadership, he took Labor to a minority Government in 2002, the same year he was elected. In the 2006 election Rann won by a landslide victory. Rann’s Government was once again elected in 2010 making it a third four-year term, a record 12 year years in Government for Labor.
Rann is the third longest service Premier of the South Australian Government.
Mike Rann was born in Sidcup England 5th of January 1953. Rann grew up in Blackfen South London and at nine years of age, Rann and his family emigrated to Mangakino New Zealand. After that he moved to Birkinhead on the North shore of Auckland where he attended Northcote College and completed a Bachelor and a Master of Arts in political science at the University of Auckland.
